That trust is built slowly, through structured progression, under expert supervision.</p><p>At NZ Stunt School, our specialist workshops exist for exactly that reason. They are focused, single-discipline training days designed to give you safe, supervised access to the professional equipment used on real productions — equipment you simply cannot learn on a YouTube video or in a general fitness class.</p><p>Some of these workshops are required before you can work on that equipment in our monthly block training. All of them will make you a better, safer, more hireable performer.</p><h2 id="8dd22a2c-588b-4f3f-be92-19f3d7da89f9" data-toc-id="8dd22a2c-588b-4f3f-be92-19f3d7da89f9" style="text-align: left; font-size: 24px; line-height: 1.2;">Why Specialist Workshops Exist</h2><p>When you show up to a block training session, the scenario is moving. There are multiple performers, a coordinator calling direction, and equipment in the environment. That is not the place to learn how a wire harness works for the first time.</p><p>Our specialist workshops remove that pressure entirely. You get dedicated time with one piece of equipment, with an instructor focused on you, in a controlled environment built for learning. Getting it wrong isn't an option.</p><p>The Car Hits workshop teaches you how to work safely and convincingly with vehicles on a production set: approach angles, contact points, reaction technique, and how to give the camera exactly what it needs.</p><p><em>Car Hits workshop completion is required before vehicle work in monthly block training.</em></p><h3 id="ae737756-4461-4284-a182-ad6c42f542b1" data-toc-id="ae737756-4461-4284-a182-ad6c42f542b1" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">Air Ram</h3><p>The air ram creates explosive, high-energy launches that look spectacular on screen. Our Fire Burns workshop introduces students to the safety protocols, preparation procedures, and performance techniques used on professional sets. Supervised at every step.</p><h3 id="8aa4c9cf-b434-4012-9c47-d172f808093a" data-toc-id="8aa4c9cf-b434-4012-9c47-d172f808093a" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">Water</h3><p>Water work covers performance in aquatic environments — breath control, underwater camera performance, safety protocols, and the specific physical demands of working in and around water on a production. An increasingly common requirement across film and TVC work. Essential when water stunt audition occurred.</p><h3 id="a0d18097-8939-462b-8889-3fc777c66aa2" data-toc-id="a0d18097-8939-462b-8889-3fc777c66aa2" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">Horse Stunts</h3><p>For performers looking to work in equestrian-heavy productions — fantasy, period drama, TVC — our Horse Stunt workshops and lessons cover safe interaction with horses on set, basic stunt rider performance for camera, and how to coordinate with horse masters and wranglers in a production environment.</p><p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal">Confident and experienced riders may progress toward stunt rider work — performing action sequences on horseback for camera. Getting there requires more than riding ability. You'll learn how to fall safely from a horse, how to be grabbed or pulled from the saddle, how to work in close proximity to other riders and performers, and how to manage a horse in a high-stimulus production environment. This pathway typically requires more than one workshop to complete safely, and progression is assessed individually.</p><h3 id="f008d88e-1435-4950-b293-08fc056f3cd9" data-toc-id="f008d88e-1435-4950-b293-08fc056f3cd9" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">Stair Falls</h3><p>Stair falls are one of the most physically demanding and frequently used practical stunts in screen production. Technique, body awareness, and progressive practice are everything. Our program runs across levels, building height and complexity progressively as your technique and confidence grow.</p><h2 id="5faeae4a-8ccd-49d4-8240-07d0d0a2373e" data-toc-id="5faeae4a-8ccd-49d4-8240-07d0d0a2373e" style="text-align: left; font-size: 24px; line-height: 1.2;">Your Training Journey — Workshops &amp; Block Training Side by Side</h2><p>Stunt training is a long journey, not a checklist to complete before you can start. You don't need to have done every workshop before you join block training — you can absolutely do both in parallel, scheduling specialist workshops throughout the year as you go.</p><p>Block training is open to all levels from the moment you've completed your Fight for Camera beginner workshop. You start building your performance foundations straight away. As you progress through the year, you layer in specialist workshops when they fit your schedule and goals — and each one you complete unlocks deeper participation in the equipment work across block sessions.</p><p>If a specific piece of equipment comes up in a block session — wires, air ram, car hits, or tactical — and you haven't yet completed the relevant workshop, you'll observe or work on alternative skills at that point. This is a safety requirement that protects you and the group, not a barrier to getting started. Everything else in the session is fully open to you.</p><p>The journey looks different for everyone. Some students come in and knock out several workshops early. Others build them in gradually over the year.
