Year Program Enrollment
& Progression Policy

Note: The Year Program structure applies only after a student has completed Fight For Camera (FFC), the mandatory entry-level workshop. Enrollment into Term 1 of the Year Program is not open to the public until FFC has been completed. 1. Enrollment & Payment Terms
Enrollment is one term in advance, paid up front. Payments are non-refundable. Workshop and training dates and locations are all subject to change, depending on instructor and venue availability. If a student cannot attend a scheduled workshop, they can rebook into a later running of the same workshop during the year (most workshops run multiple times per year for this reason). If a student needs to book flights to attend a workshop, they should book a flexible/changeable fare, given dates and locations are subject to change. If NZSS cancels or reschedules a workshop, the student is automatically rebooked into the next running of that workshop. Rebooking credit remains valid for up to 2 years. Year Program students are welcome to add extra à la carte training or workshops on top of their enrolled term package at any time.
2. Mid-Year Joining (New Students) Fight For Camera (FFC) is the mandatory entry workshop and runs four times a year: January, April, July, and October. New students can join the Year Programme at any of these intakes: January intake: starts on the normal full-year schedule. April or July intake: student joins from that point, and catches up any earlier missed Term 1 (or Term 1-2) workshop components either later in the year as they're re-run, or via à la carte booking. No new enrollments accepted after the July intake — October FFC is the final intake of the year, and would leave insufficient time to complete the year's requirements.
3. Repeating Workshops (Skill Redundancy) If a student has already completed a workshop that appears again in their enrolled year's curriculum, they are required to redo it as part of the programme. Repetition is treated as reinforcement, not redundancy — stunt skills are performance-based and benefit from repeated practice, not a one-time tick-box.
No exemptions or credit-skipping for previously completed workshops. 4. Missing Components (Catch-Up Rule) If a student progresses to the next year level (e.g. Year 1 to Year 2) with an outstanding/missing component from the prior year, they may still enroll in the next year. For the missing component(s), they have two options: Be certified with that specific content excluded/noted as outstanding, or Catch up later in the year by booking the missing workshop à la carte.
5. Certification Gate Certification for a given year is withheld until all components of that year are completed, even if the student has already progressed into training at the next year level. Example: a student cannot receive their Year 2 certificate while a Year 1 component remains outstanding, regardless of how far into Year 2 they've progressed. 6. Assessment & Competency Sign-Off
Year 1 (Foundation) concludes with a Fight For Camera Refresher, which doubles as the formal stunt assessment. Students must pass this assessment, evaluated on core fundamental skills, to be certified. Ongoing workshops and training throughout the year also contribute to assessment. A minimum of 80% attendance for the term is required to be eligible for certification/sign-off. If a student misses a specific skill component (e.g. an area-specific workshop), they can still receive an overall "Basic Fundamental Stunt Training" competency/completion, with that specific missed area explicitly excluded/noted, rather than being blocked from any certification at all.
7. Existing (Pay-A-La-Carte) Student Transition Existing à la carte students transitioning into the structured Year Program are assessed, and their level is attributed based on: Their previous workshop training completion history, and Feedback from instructors. Placement is decided via a private consultation and assessment with NZSS — it is at the school's discretion whether a student is ready for the level they're requesting, not an automatic placement based on a checklist alone.
8. Code of Conduct
Students are expected to behave respectfully toward instructors, staff, and fellow students at all times. Safety instructions given by instructors must be followed without exception — this is non-negotiable given the physical nature of stunt training. Attending training or workshops under the influence of drugs or alcohol is not permitted. Serious misconduct or safety violations may result in suspension or removal from the programme, without refund.
9. Withdrawal & Term Renewal
If a student withdraws mid-term, the fee for the current term remains payable in full (non-refundable, per Section 1). A withdrawing student is under no obligation to book the following term. To continue into the next term, students must confirm their booking at least 4 weeks before that term's start date, to allow for instructor and venue planning.
10. Term Dates
Term 1: January – March Term 2: April – June Term 3: July – September Term 4: October – December
