Thinking about joining the Stunt Guild of New Zealand (SGNZ)? It’s the professional standard for stunt performers in Aotearoa; recognized for safety, skill, and credibility in the film industry.

At NZ Stunt School, we guide you through the full journey — training you in required skills, documenting your progress, and giving you the industry-level approach that SGNZ values.

What SGNZ Looks For

The Guild’s Stunt Grading Manual specifies competency in key categories:

  • Height

  • Water

  • Animal

  • Body Control

  • Driving

You must provide clear, documented proof (videos, certifications, references) to qualify.
Please check NZ Stunt Guild Website for more information and updated application manual.

How NZSS Covers the Key Categories

Here’s how we support your pathway toward Guild eligibility:

High Falls
Meet Height criteria safely with high-diving and height falls with expert guidance.

Water
From pool drills to high-diving or breath-hold exercises, we prepare you for aquatic scenarios to meet NZSG criteria.

Horse Riding
Our horse facilities deliver mounted stunt training, wrangling, and stunt safety industry-level standard.

Assessment & References
We provide documented assessments and reference letters to support your SGNZ application.

Pro-Level Attitude
Training includes on-set professionalism, safety protocols, call sheet etiquette, and reputation management — all critical Guild traits.

Guild-Aligned Leadership

Our founder, Dayna Pomare Pai, is a SGNZ-registered Stunt Coordinator and Performer. She brings real-world insight into every workshop, helping guide students toward the standards expected at Guild level (competences and attitude).

Your Path Forward

Here’s how a typical NZSS-to-Guild path looks:

  1. Train with Fight for Camera (begins your foundational training path)

  2. Join monthly stunt sessions and take part in specialist workshops

  3. Complete training in required criteria such as high falls, water, and horse riding

  4. Compile video reel, training records and letters as evidence

  5. Apply to SGNZ with informed guidance and verified proof

Talent Spotlight

Many students have gone on to land professional stunt roles in New Zealand and overseas, using NZSS training as their foundation for entry into the industry and often applying to the Guild soon after. With our structured pathway, training, and reference support, joining SGNZ becomes a realistic and supported goal.
